Backdrops: iPhone wallpaper you’ll love

The Backdrop app on iPhone 6 + Screen

iPhone wallpaper. We all love it, don’t we? I like to change mine constantly and I’ve searched a lot of sites promising the best, high-quality iPhone wallpaper on the web. I always come back to Backdrops though, because in my humble opinion it really does have the best selection of exceptional iPhone wallpaper I’ve found. That’s why it has been a Master Your Mac favourite app for a l-o-n-g time. The current version requires iOS 6 or later, is optimised for iPhone 5 (but looks great on iPhone 6 & 6 Plus) and costs £1.49. It also works perfectly on your iPad!

Browse Backdrops for iPhone wallpaper and tap on a photo’s thumbnail to see a full-sized preview.

When you fire up Backdrops you have a choice of browsing by most recent wallpapers available, top rated wallpapers, by category, by artist, or randomly. Once you see something that takes your fancy a tap on the preview thumbnail takes you to a full-screen version showing you exactly what it will look like as your iPhone wallpaper so you can decide if it’s really what you want.

Tap the full-sized preview to share on social media or email, or to save the image to Photos app to use later as wallpaper.

Tapping the arrow at the bottom right of the screen allows you to immediately share the photo on Facebook or Twitter, or by Email, so you can share with friends who might like a particular wallpaper. Tapping Save Backdrop saves the photo in your Photos app, inside a folder called IFL Backdrops (which the app creates for you automatically, which is jolly thoughtful!).

How to apply a photo as iPhone wallpaper in Backdrops.
Tap Choose a New Wallpaper and open the IFL Backdrops folder to use your saved photo as your iPhone wallpaper.

To use a saved photo as wallpaper, go to Settings, Wallpaper. Tap Choose a New Wallpaper, then the IFL Backdrops folder, then select the photo you want to use. Then tap Set, and choose to set it for your Lock Screen, your Home Screen or both. You can also move and/or scale the photo (depending on the resolution of the photo), or cancel if you’ve changed your mind.

So there you have it. A great selection of beautiful photographs to use as iPhone wallpaper until the cows come home.

Backdrops is, of course, available at the iTunes App Store.
